NIGERIA: TO FIGHT OR TO FOLD?

Dear leaders, we have over the years had experiences of terrorism. Are you not tired of making world headlines, headlines that tell negative stories about us? We have battled for years, we have been at war with opposition and we have not prevailed. The little ones have grown to find that the country they dreamed to lead is gradually rotting away and the leaders they look up to are watching in disgust and covering their noses to avoid the stench. When will someone come forward to remove the rot and kill the stench?
How many more people have to die? How many more children have to be orphaned? How many more mothers have to cry for the loss of the children they laboured to have? Can you not understand that the world is watching? Where is our faith?
“To serve our fatherland with love and strength and faith”
I want to be nonchalant but I can’t because I live with this nightmare that the war is only just starting, the cake is just starting to rot. If we do not act fast, we will be left struggling to swim in a big river with disturbing tides. Not all can swim and not all can escape. A small sect has risen and the giant is about to crumble. I cannot teach the leaders how to help the country, different ways are all over the internet. I cannot teach the leaders to pray, they already know to do that. I can only remind them that many have died and some young ladies have gone missing and the war has not yet started.
So when you merry and dance, do not forget that there’s a baby, a fragile being who has to be nurtured, groomed and not allowed to die or be thrown away with bathwater. This child’s name should not be erased from life, this child is a child no matter how old. This child is Nigeria.
O God of Creation, direct our noble cause, guide our leaders right, help our youths the truth to know…Let’s build a nation where peace and justice will reign.
