ON QUITTING THE SIDE HUSTLE

ON QUITTING THE SIDE HUSTLE

Sometime ago, a friend of Daniel’s came visiting and we all had a discussion. During this discussion came the topic of having a side job while managing a personal business. This friend said that no one who is serious about entrepreneurship has a day job. He believed that anyone who took the step to set up a company should understand that their focus must be on the company full-time. This opinion of his was not contested for long as I figured I had no time to actually counter his opinion. Read the rest of this entry »

ILE OBINRIN O KIN PE SU

ILE OBINRIN O KIN PE SU

I live in a large compound with many families. One of my neighbours is an elderly Urhobo couple so when they found that I am an Urhobo girl, they informally adopted me and scolded me whenever I didn’t stop by to say hi.

Yesterday, I sat with mama for my Urhobo lessons but ended up listening carefully to her as she talked about how she was once a petite young lady who worked so hard to assist in training her children. How to be a real Nigerian man

How to be a real Nigerian man

My friend John is a real man. The other day, he slapped Funke his wife for daring to put too much salt in his porridge. Can’t blame him, like why would she even make such a silly mistake and claim she was tired after a long day at work? Was she not the one who complained that she would rather work when John told her to stay home and be a full-time housewife? Now this?

I always said it, women should not be sent to school to study because it seems when they go ehn, their eyes will just open vaaam and they will be doing anyhow. Read the rest of this entry »

On heartbreaks and suicide

There is news going round about a fifteen year old girl who committed suicide because she was heartbroken from a failed romantic relationship with a boy. Along with the condolence comments are comments about how stupid she was to have even thought of killing herself. I am hoping that someone will read this and see things from another angle rather than judge her for taking her own life. Read the rest of this entry »
